If you guys are anything like us here at Mentorum, music accompanies you wherever you go.
You are always searching for the perfect soundtrack to anything you do, be it workout, killing commute time, or cooling down after a stress-filled day. Having access to all the music out there is awesome, but as you know, for every gigabyte of fine tunes you’ll get petabytes of trash.
Cue Mentorum to the rescue!
To save you some precious, real-life time, we dived into the vast ocean of Spotify to present you with these audio companions to three important, recurring scenes in the stories of our lives.
Scene 1: Cooking.
You like to take it easy in the kitchen? Maybe put a little bit of a spring in your step while you’re cooking? We got you covered. Playlist #1 features lots of jazz, Latin, and all around easy listening kinda music. #2 will make your heart melt like butter on a hot, shiny corncob, so please keep it for a very special occasion. (Date, that’s all we are trying to say. Cooking date. It exists. And it works!) #3 is a sweet, sweet mix of electronica, jazz, r’n’b, and Northern Soul. Cook these healthy dishes like nobody’s watching!
Scene 2: Workout.
That moment when you need to pump it up, even if you don’t feel like it. The trick is finding the beat that will do it for you. What’s your flavor? See if any of these three will fit: Playlist #1 features upbeat, positive house & electronics that’ll help you keep up a good pace when running or body weight training. Put on #2 when you’ve had about enough of it all. Nothing like some angry hip-hop and rock to release some of that anger. Do it! Punch this bag! Snatch this barbell! Testosterone friendly. #3 is a great compilation of 2000s hits. Missy Elliott, Kanye, OutKast… It’s so good it’s almost corny. You’ll see.
Scene 3: Cooldown.
So you’ve survived the workday and the workout. You’re one your way home and there’s really no need to be wired any more… So you turn to gentler soundscapes. Playlist #1 is lively yet elegant. It will keep you awake but not overly stimulated. Old-school Caribbean and Brazilian rhythms are irresistible. #2 will get you closer to to the North Pole, and to bedtime. Folk, Americana, Sufjan Stevens, Feist, Iron and Wine, if you’re into that, you hipster you… We certainly are. Finally, #3 will lull you to sleep or allow you to relax completely for a meditation or a massage session. Dense, atmospheric sounds – strings and piano, Debussy and Iceland, perfect for drifting off and recuperating before the challenge of the next big day.
